Thursday evening the Florida Eels Elite team squared off vs the Florida Jr. Blades. The Eels needed just one point in the standings to capture 1st place in the Florida Division and 1st seed in the playoffs. The Jr Blades had not secured a playoff spot and were eliminated form post season play. But one thing for sure, the Jr Blades have a lot of pride and we knew they would not go down easy. The Eels would have to bring their A game. Have all cylinders firing if they wanted to seize the opportunity to finish 1st over all in the Florida Division.

Well, both teams came out hard. For the 1st period the game was pretty even. But then the Eels went into 2nd 3rd and 4th gears so to speak. They have been working very hard over the last several weeks improving their offense and defense alike. Indeed, the Eels turned things up a notch in periods 2 and 3 and scored 8 goals and all but suffocated the Blades offense. The Blades did manage 1 goal with 8 seconds remaining in the game but it was far too little too late to be a threat.

The Eels players were threading the needle and smothering any sustainable attack. This was their last away game of the regular season. They are back at home Sunday at 10:15 am for their final regular season game against the Jr Blades
