The Florida Eels are proud to announce that Damon Kiyawasew, a two-year veteran of the program, has committed to playing NCAA Division III college hockey for Rivier University. The talented forward hails from Sherwood Park, Alberta, and has been an integral part of the Eels’ success over the past two seasons.
During his time with the Eels, Kiyawasew helped lead the team to two division titles and a national championship appearance. He was a dominant force on the ice, scoring 20 goals and 34 points in just 38 games. Kiyawasew’s incredible skill and clutch performances made him a fan favorite and a crucial player for the Eels.
Head Coach Frank Scarpaci expressed his admiration for Kiyawasew’s skills and work ethic. “Rivier is getting a whole lot of skill and a whole lot of energy. Our staff will miss having him around as he set the pace in practice in games consistently. Was absolutely clutch for us, the bigger the stage the bigger the game from him.” Scarpaci also highlighted Kiyawasew’s incredible playoff performance, including two game-winning overtime goals at the national tournament.
Kiyawasew will be joining fellow Eel Liam Hennessey at Rivier University, where he is expected to make an immediate impact on the ice. His impressive speed, agility, and scoring ability make him a formidable opponent for any team. We have no doubt that Kiyawasew will continue to excel at the next level and make a significant contribution to Rivier’s hockey program.
The entire Eels organization is incredibly proud of Kiyawasew’s commitment to playing college hockey and wishes him the very best in his future endeavors. We have no doubt that he will be an excellent representative of the Florida Eels and an asset to Rivier University.
