Florida Eels Elite defeat the IHC in one of the biggest games of the season. The IHC is one of the top teams in the Northeast and ranked number 1 in the league for that matter. This was a playoff type game. The lead was exchanged several times in the game and the Eels had to come back from a 4-3 deficit to capture the win. In fact, Matt Clift scored a shorthanded goal at the 10-minute mark of the 3rd period to tie it up. Then Mathieu Rioux his 11th goal of the season to tally the game winner.
To make it a real nail-biter, the IHC pulled their goalie and the Eels committed a penalty with minutes remaining but the Eels team defense and netminder slammed the door shut to capture the win. Another high note is Anthony Zebley scored another pair of goals in this game: That is 8 goals in two games!
Both teams played extremely well in this contest. It is another example of the success of the Hub City games. Great competition for the players. What an incredible experience for all involved. Thus far the Eels have played the Northern Cyclones (NH), Jersey Hitmen (NJ), New York Aviators (NY), and the IHC Mass). The Eels have gone 4-0 in the Hub City games.
