A reflection looking back
Wow coach I can say I really do get it. I am so exciting to be moving on to college this year. I will miss you guys. The Eels have been a second family for me.
I saw the presentation by the league, and it is so true. Why don’t players clearly see this….
The USPHL is the number one league to advance players to college. As a whole they have done incredible things:
- Advanced 3,000 players to college hockey programs
- Advanced 2,400 to NCAA College hockey programs
- Advanced 350 to NCAA Division I college hockey programs
- 1,100 USPHL Alumni playing college hockey
- Multiple players playing NHL and minor league hockey
- 3-4 Hobey Baker winners. Many more nominees
Then look at our program {Florida Eels}
- We average 12-15 players to college per year
- We advanced 250+ players to college
- Eels players average over $25,000 per year in scholarships. This has resulted in millions of dollars for our guys. Yes, coach this is the key factor in why players come to the Eels program.
- We practice 4+ hours per day This is over 800 hours per year. Other players don’t get ½ of this.
- We attend 4 showcases Others go to 1 or 2 Some more but nobody gets these plus 10 extra scrimmage games.
This is incredible. And of course, we do pretty darn good on the scoreboard. One of 3 programs that had both its Elite and Premier advance to Nationals.
