Once again, the Florida Eels will be hosting two teams at the Pro-Am Sr Chowder Cup. This showcase is amongst the most prestigious showcase in North America. Indeed, there will be teams from across the USA and Canada competing for the covenanted “Chowder Cup” General Manager Frank Scarpaci has been participating in this showcase since its inception some 30 years ago. It is one of the most storied showcase in North America. He has personally advanced many players from this showcase to the highest levels in hockey, including the USA NTPD, NCAA Division I and III Colleges and Universities and to the USHL and the BCHL.
Quite frankly, this showcase has been a recruiting platform to so many players who went on to play in the NHL and NCAA College hockey. Just look at their website. www.proamhockey.com It is a badge of passage if you will. Players come from all over the USA Canada and Europe to participate in this event. . Like its earlier showcase in May – the Pre-Draft Showcase, you will see so many diverse players competing. You will see NHL Draft picks, freshman for many NCAA Div. I and III colleges, while also seeing so many players from Canadian Major Juniors – the QMJHL OHL and WHL. There are numerous top players from all of the top Junior II leagues in Canada and the USA.

Moreover, our guys get to showcase their own skill set in front of “Decision Makers” Yes, there are over 100 scouts from the NHL, college coaches and top scouts from the Canadian Major Junior Hockey leagues, the USHL, the NCDC, the BCHL, NAHL and so many top Canadian and USA Junior teams. The Chowder Cup provides phenomenal exposure and visibility to our players. And to that end, that is why players – prospects come to the Florida Eels. Because the Eels advance players to the Next Level: College 249 and counting.
So, on the 17th of July the Eels will have a scrimmage game against the prestigious Canada West team and then a practice. The Eels kick off their games on Thursday with additional games Friday and Sunday with the playoff rounds on Sunday.
The Eels will have over 35 prospects at the Showcase as well as some of its veteran players. You can count on the Eels coaching and scouting staff to be extremely busy at the Showcase scouting and recruiting available players for next season. You can count on GM Scarpaci to be at his best.
