The Florida Eels squared off against Midwest West Minn. Blue Ox in game two of the Eels showcase weekend. The Blue Ox are one of the top teams in the Midwest West and enjoy an excellent reputation in Junior hockey. This is a team that has done quite well in its tenure in the league. Indeed, the last time the two teams met they ended in a tie at the USPHL Nationals.
Tonight the Eels took control from the very drop of the puck. The Eels play a very high tempo game. The Eels Premier team was red hot and exploded for 11 goals and only allowed 1 against. Clearly the Blue Ox were overwhelmed with the Eels high octane speed,; aggressive and smothering fore-check; and their suffocating back-checking. Moreover, the Ox experienced the shuttering hits and details to every second in this game.
The Eels were flying high and what was equally impressive was their defense and goaltending denying shot after shot on its goalie Toby Bell.
It was great seeing teams from out west and the Eels look forward to their 2 games on Sunday and one final game Friday. The Eels get to play 5 games this weekend. A tough task indeed.
