Florida Eels Compete In First USPHL Showcase in North Carolina

Let The Games Begin

Florida Eels Elite and Empire journey to Wake Forrest NC to play in the USPHL College Showcase. The Eels will be playing against the Hampton Road Whalers, The East Coast Eagles, the Potomac Patriots and the newcomers to the league the Richmond Generals. Richmond joined the league this year. They formerly played in the MJHL and moved to the USPHL in quest to play the highest level of Tier III hockey in the USA.

The USPHL invites numerous college coaches to come down to all of its showcases to scout and recruit players for their respective teams. The college coaches are all NCAA and have serious restrictions on when and how they can talk to players. So players do not be upset if you are not spoken to during the games. In fact the coaches are not permitted to speak directly to any players until after the conclusion of their 4 games.

During the games and throughout the weekend GM Scarpaci will be extremely active in speaking with all of the coaches’ present and taking calls from a host of others who will be watching the games on FastHockey. Coach Bloomingburg and Coach Frankie Scarpaci will also be heavily involved in the recruitment process through out the weekend.

In the week that follows we will be hearing from a number of the coaches who will have had an opportunity to go back and caucus with their coaching staff and report back to GM Scarpaci about players that they may have an interest in.

A number of Eel players have been very proactive already in the college recruitment process. Some have drafted letters to be sent out to the coaches, made virtual tours of a number of campuses and have taken advantage of the NCAA materials GM Scarpaci provided to each player.
