These 3 boys come from the 2 Big States Texas and Alaska. They are examples of the breath and enormity of the Eels recruiting footprint. The Eels are expecting Big Things This Season From Them As Well
Al Evanyk 89
Birth Year: 2002
Hand/Position: Left Shot Defensemen
Hometown: Wylie, Texas
Height/Weight: 5’8” 152 lbs
Prior to joining the Eels, Al played at Richardson/Rockwall High School in Texas where he tallied 27 goals and 31 assists in 18 games played last season. He is a versatile player with a very solid skill base. He came in as a forward but was changed into a defenseman due to his vision with the puck and his calm nature on the blue line. A big part of the Eels Elite blue line, he has 1 Goal and 2 Assists in 4 games played so far this season. Al is a do it all defender, he has great gap control, can move the puck extremely well, and can jump into the offensive play. He has skills that as he develops will seemingly transfer to the college game.
Ben Allen 6
Birth Year: 2002
Hand/Position: Right Shot Forward
Hometown: Dallas, Texas
Height/Weight: 5’10” 160 lbs
Ben Allen is a versatile forward that has seen time both as a center and a wing so far this season. He has an extremely high hockey IQ that goes a long way in his game. Prior to coming to Florida, Allen played at Richardson/Rockwall High School where he combined for 19 goals and 18 assists in 14 games played and also played with the Dallas Penguins U18 team where in 28 games he posted 4 goals and 4 assists. Ben plays a gritty style of hockey that is sometimes hard to come by. He is not afraid to go into the corners and win puck battles. A true “do whatever it takes to win” mentality to his game. He currently has 1 goal in 3 games played so far this season. As Allen continues to develop his skill set along with his hockey IQ, he can blossom into a fine collegiate ice hockey student athlete.
Brier Books 18
Birth Year: 2004
Hand/Position: Left Shot Forward
Hometown: Soldotna, Alaska
Height/Weight: 6’1” 195 lbs
Number 18, Brier Books comes to the Florida Eels all the way from Alaska. Last season he played for Team Alaska’s U15AAA team where he recorded 6 goals and 9 assists in 43 games played. He plays a very physical game for the Eels and has a team first mentality. So far this season he has recorded 1 goal in 5 games played. Another versatile forward for the Eels, Books has seen time as both a center and a winger in the lineup where he has made an impact in both of those positions. Books is quickly becoming an everyday player for the Eels this season and as he continues to develop his hockey IQ he will be sure to be an everyday player for a university in the future.
