3 Rookies Score Their 1st Goals of the Season
The Florida Eels Elite Team Defeats the Tampa Juniors 4-2 In Their Season Opener in Wesley Chapel Florida.
The Eels Elite team garnered goals from 4 different players as they over took the Tampa Juniors in each of the teams’ season opener. The Eels were away here tonight traveling in their season opener. This was a very close contest as the score remained scoreless at the end of the 1st period. You can see there was the initial feeling out process here but as the game materialized, the players became more comfortable and more confident in their abilities. Both teams had power play in the 1st but neither squad took advantage of their power play opportunities in that period.
In the 2nd period the Eels drew 1st blood by a goal from Hunter Stewart (1) ASST: Marc-Alexandre Quintal (1), Ian Friz (1). The Eels had about 150 fans who drove up from Ft Myers and you could hear every last one of them scream when they scored this 1st goal of the season. Then the Eels scored again taking a 2-goal lead as Gage Dill scored (1) ASST: Jake Court (1). Gage in fact had several scoring opportunities and he was on fire tonight. But Tampa stormed back with 2 goals of their own making it 2-2 at the end of the 2nd period.
Then at 6:18 into the 3rd period the Eels struck again with their 3rd goal of the even by Alec Elinoff (1) ASST: Trevor Voyda (1). Then just 4 minutes later the Eels scored their 4tth of the evening with a goal from Adam Burtzlaff (1) ASST: Marc-Alexandre Quintal (2), Hunter Stewart (1)
This was 4 goals from 4 different players. In fact it was very exciting as Hunter Stewart, Alec Elinoff and Adam Burtzlaff are all 1st year junior players. Rookie Goalie Thomas Steere faced 35 shots in net turning away 33. The Elite guys played awesome and we all look forward to Sunday’s rematch at home game time 1:00 pm at the Fort Myers Skatium
