The Eels Elite team earn 5 of 8 points this past weekend at the USPHL Showcase in Tampa holding on firmly to First Place in the Florida Division standings. In game one the Eels edged the Nashville Spartans 4-3. In game 2 the Eels took on the top team in the Elite Division the Carolina Hurricanes. This was one of the best games played this season. The Eels battled for every inch of the ice and showed the league they were right there with the top team in the league. In the end the Eels were edged 4-3 by the Cains but it was by a narrow margin. The Eels came seconds in capturing a tie but time ran out. The Eels look forward to a rematch in the Nationals.
In game 3 the Eels met MidAtlantic top team the Jersey Hitmen. We have had many of great games against the Hitmen and this proved very similar. In this out of region game the Eels topped the Hitmen 4-1 for a good win.
Game 4 the setting was set. The Eels vs the Rush and this game proved to be all it was billed out to be. The Hitting was hard. The Boys were flying and the tension was felt all throughout the arena. The place was packed. maybe 500+ strong in attendance. The Eels struck 1st but the Rush came back with 3. The Rush were up 3-1 with less than a minute to go when the Eels pulled their goalie. Eels scored their 2nd and 3rd to tie it all up. The Arena exploded. Fans players and all in attendance. The place was wild. In OT the Rush scored bringing an end to the game but not to the excitement. The Eels may have fell in this game but it was hardly a loss. This was one of its best games ever. A true hard fought battle by two very talented teams. Each with a lot of pride determination and fortitude. Both destined to drive to Nationals. These boys left everything on the ice.
From an Eels prospective the program is very proud of our guys. Most teams would have caved at 3-1 vs the Rush. Not the Eels They are a proud group of guys and it showed with every shift every period and as they fought for every inch of the ice,
