Eels Elite and Empire Teams to attend NCAA Div 1 and 3 games this weekend

The Florida Eels Elite and Empire Teams are off to the USPHL Islanders Hockey Club Showcase this weekend.

Moreover, the Eels staff will be taking the boys to two college hockey games.

On Thursday evening 7:00 pm, coach Frankie will be taking the Empire team to watch NCAA Div. 3 Men’s ice hockey game – Westfield State University as they square off against Curry College in Milton MA. Eels’ alumni, Chris James  (elite goalie for 2 seasons) plays for Curry College.

On Saturday evening the Elite team will be off to watch NCAA Div. 1 Merrimack College play Providence College.

Unfortunately both teams will not be able to go together to each of these venues because of games and scheduling conflicts. The Eels staff is thrilled to simply be able to get the boys to NCAA games so they can see first hand the speed of the game and the level of competition. The IHC showcase itself is a highly scouted event and we expect to see 50-75 NCAA college coaches and recruiters present. This is where the boys will get a good opportunity to show their skill set and get on the radar. Many of these same scouts will be flying down to Tampa next month as the USPHL host its Southern Showcase. Then the scouts will have another opportunity to see our boys at the USPHL main Showcase in January.

These showcases are a hallmark of the Eels program. To showcase the boys for the scouts not at one event but 4 not including the several rounds of the playoffs. Being able to attend the games is a unique feature that the Eels add to their trips.
