USPHL Elite: South Region Players Of The Week
Congratulations to this week’s USPHL Elite Division Players Of The Week from the Southern Divisions (Florida and Southeast).
Forwards: Adam Burtzlaff, Florida Eels
Burtzlaff (‘00/Brookfield, Colo.) was Mr. Helper for the Eels as they went up against the Tampa Bay Juniors on the weekend, earning two wins, one in OT.
He had three assists in each of the games for a six-point weekend.
Overall, Burtzlaff has posted 14 goals and 44 points this season.
Declan Murphy, Richmond Generals
Two wins for the Generals helped them pull away from the challenging Charlotte Rush for the USPHL Elite Southeast Division title.
In both of their games this weekend, Murphy (‘02/Lancaster, Pa.) scored a total of four goals, including a Sunday hat trick. That included the game-winner.
He had a goal Saturday as well. He now has 26 points for the season.
Defense: Nolan Tabraham, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes
Tabraham(‘02/Fayetteville, N.C.) remains one of the highest scoring defensemen in the USPHL Elite, standing fifth with 28 points in 41 games. He is currently on a seven-game point streak in which he’s collected nine points. He earned a goal and an assist in the Jr. Canes’ sweep of Charleston last weekend.
Goal: Nick Bernstein, Richmond Generals
Here we are in February but as far as the USPHL Elite is concerned it may as well be October, if you’re looking at the goaltending leaderboard.
Bernstein still stands first overall in both goals against average (1.41) and save percentage (.953).
This past weekend he added to his 17 wins with two wins over Charlotte. The ‘01 from Valley View, Ohio, posted a 56-save shutout on Saturday. He stopped 25 of 28 shots in Sundays win.
