There’s always fun in the sun in Florida, but don’t leave the ice out of that conversation.

The USPHL Florida Showcase kicks off on Friday, Dec. 13, and runs through Monday, Dec. 16. The showcase, based entirely at Advent Health Center Ice in Wesley Chapel, Fla., will feature all of the teams from the USPHL Premier and USPHL Elite’s Southeast and Florida Divisions. The Islanders Hockey Club Premier team will also take part in the showcase.

Advent Health Center Ice features four ice sheets so continuous action is a trademark of the showcase.

Among the USPHL Premier teams that will play at Wesley Chapel are six of the top 20 Premier teams, along with six of the top 10 teams from the USPHL Elite.

Also on display will be many of each league’s top scorers, defensemen and goaltenders, including one three-time Goaltender Of The Month (Nick Bernstein/Richmond Generals Elite).

The Florida vs. Southeast Division clashes will be fantastic previews for potential USPHL National Championship Playoff matchups in March. These teams will also prepare for the Winter Showcase, where they will face North and Midwest teams.

Florida Eels Premier Team Sweeps Mad Hatters in 3 game Series

Eels Premier Dismantled the Mad Hatters in 3 games combined score of 12-2

Florida Eels Premier team ice cap from the 3 game away series in Atlanta, the Eels came out victorious with a 3 game sweep. The Eels combined for a 12-2 total Winning 2 games by one goal and garnering a shutout. The Eels players looked awesome in all 3 zones unleashing a balanced but relentless attack through out the weekend and a denying defense coupled with phenomenal goaltending by both net minders . This was a solid series taxing no less as they played 3 full regular season games. Great job earning a 3-0 record. Eels now have 20 wins on the season.

Elite Team Does Extremely Well in Atlanta 4 game series

Eels go 2 -2 Maintain 1st place

The Florida Eels Elite team goes 2-2 for the 4 game series in Atlanta . This was a herculean performance by both teams. Very taxing when ever you play 4 games in 3 days. Equally tough when they are 4 regulation games 3 20 minute games. The Eels Elite team also had a number of call ups to the Premier team so it was an extra burden on the squad that was already nursing some injuries and battling the flu.
But quitting or making excuses is not to be heard. Not even a whisper.
The Boys came out hard and left everything on the ice. They lost one game 5-3 to come back to win the next 5-3 They lost the 3rd game 4-2 to rebound with a solid win 4-2. This weekend showed character and heart by the Elite team. Incredible intestinal fortitude. Such determination And remember they had to travel 11 hours and over come these inequities.
As GM I am very proud of this young squad. There were 2 wins and 2 losses but it was a huge win for the Eels regardless of the points garnered in these games.

8 points on the line this weekend.

The Florida Eels Elite Team has met the Mad Hatters 4 times this season. The Eels won 2 tied 1 and lost one. The Eels earned 5 out of a possible 8 points in those games. In 23 games played the Eels sit in 1stplace in the Florida Division with 32 points They are ranked 6thoverall in the league in the Elite Division. The Mad Hatters have played 22 games with 21 points and they are ranked 11thin the league.

This weekend the two teams play a 4 game series. Two Friday 1 Saturday and 1 Sunday. There are 8 points on the line this weekend . Tampa who is in 2ndplace with 24 points is looking to gain ground on the Eels. They square off in a home and away series Friday and Saturday. They are looking to pick up 4 points over the 4thplace Jr Blades with 16 points. The Blades are fighting hard to gain day light over the Colonials who have 12 points. They are off this weekend so you can only imagine how much they are hoping Tampa sweeps the Blades.

This is all important as the  5thplace team is eliminated in the playoffs. The seedings are 1 v 4 2 v 3. Well the Mad Hatters are coming off a 3 game skid. But don’t let that deceive you as they picked up 2 huge wins over the Rockets and more impressively over the Jr Hurricanes in Boston at the IHC Showcase. The games this weekend ought to be very spirited and lively. The competition ought to very good amongst the two Elite teams. Stay tune to watch the games on HockeyTV if you are not able to join us in Atlanta.

The Eels Premier team squares off vs the Mad Hatters this weekend to conclude the regular season play between these two teams. Thus far the Eels have played 5 games. The Eels won 4 and lost 1. But we won’t take them for granted. They are a solid team with some very talented players. They came into our building and beat us handedly. The Eels closest opponent in the standings in the Colonials and they have 25 points. They are off this weekend so the Eels have a solid opportunity to gain some real day light here.
