Forwards

Tristan Roost, Florida Eels

Everything clicked for this fourth-year USPHL Premier veteran in his third month with his new team in his hometown of Fort Myers, Fla. The 2000-born Roost had three goals through September and October, and then doubled that and added one to grow on for a seven-goal November. To that, he also tacked on 11 assists for an impressive 7-4-11 line in six games for the month, missing the scoresheet just once. In a three-game stretch over three days against Atlanta, he posted 5-3-8 totals. All told, he now has a 10-9-19 line through his 15 games with the Eels and 111 points in 138 USPHL Premier contests. Roost is fourth in career USPHL Premier games played (going back to 2017).

Goaltender

Alexandre Caron, Florida Eels

After losing a game on Sept. 19, it’s been nothing but W’s for the Eels’ second-year ‘01 goalie out of Sorel-Tracy, Que. For November, Caron went 5-0 and gave up just five goals along the way, and also earned one shutout. He started the month with a 23-save blanking of Atlanta, and has extended his winning streak to now eight straight games entering December.

Exciting News: The Florida Eels Premier and Elite Teams Will Compete in the Hub City Games

12+ Premier and Elite Teams From The North Will Be Heading To Tampa

Guys we are very excited about the Hub City games and we will be advising you all in the next few days about the event. The Eels will be competing in these games against Premier and Elite teams from the New England, the Northeast and the Midwest.

The United States Premier Hockey League is proud to announce its plans to bring teams from across its coast-to-coast footprint – the largest in all of North American Junior Hockey – to Tampa, Florida, for a Hub City concept with the health and wellness of players and staff as a top priority. The USPHL is partnering with Saddlebrook Resort (“Saddlebrook”), a multi-dimensional Tampa Resort and Conference Center, and AdventHealth Center Ice, a state-of-the-art 4-sheet, full-service ice hockey facility, to provide our teams a dedicated environment to execute our high-performance training and competition model and provide our players a tremendous opportunity to showcase their talents to all the professional and collegiate programs in the country.

The Hub City Concept provides a unique opportunity for the USPHL to isolate its players at Saddlebrook while away from the AdventHealth Center Ice, resulting in a safe atmosphere for all the athletes. Saddlebrook Resort has made a name for itself as one of the nation’s preeminent training facilities for athletes and features two adjacent fitness centers that total over 6,000 sq. ft., multiple volleyball and basketball courts, and a FieldTurf training field, along with three swimming pools, two Arnold Palmer signature golf courses and a championship tennis complex. Team building and non-hockey experiences will be situated solely at Saddlebrook.

All USPHL safety protocols addressing the concerns surrounding the dissemination of COVID-19, including, but not limited to, guidelines regarding travel, facility management and any hockey/sport-related policies will remain in effect. The USPHL will have trained medical staff on site throughout the duration of the Hub City Event.

Saddlebrook and AdventHealth Center Ice provide the USPHL Coaches and Staff all the necessary facilities to execute the USPHL Player Development Model in a contained, safe environment. Each week, USPHL Teams will have multiple on-ice practices, continue their off-ice strength and conditioning regiments, and have team and one-on-one video analysis. Dedicated space will be provided for all online/virtual students to ensure uninterrupted learning. Equally important, the Hub City Event will provide players a competitive 20-game schedule not currently available to them due to ever-changing travel restrictions across the country. All games will be carried on the new USPHL/HockeyTV channel set to be launched on January 1st.

Jake Court Selected as Florida Division Player of the Week

USPHL Premier Players Of The Week: South Region

Week of Nov. 24, 2020

Florida Division

Forward: Jake Court, Florida Eels

Court (‘00/Fort Myers, Fla.) is not only a locally grown product for the Eels, but he’s been a loyal soldier for now four seasons. Most recently, Court posted his first USPHL Premier hat trick and added three assists to help the Eels sweep the rival Florida Jr. Blades.

Defense: Owen Larson, Atlanta Mad Hatters

Larson (‘02/Snellville, Ga.) is another four-year USPHL veteran who has been putting together a heck of a campaign for the Mad Hatters. Goaltender: Noah Ping, Atlanta Mad Hatters

Ping (‘02/Duluth, Ga.) just arrived in Atlanta with multiple years of junior hockey under his blades, and he’s shown just what he can do especially recently where he stopped 70 of 74 shots for two wins. He remains 3-0 overall.

Continuing the theme of hearty USPHL veterans, Blue (‘02/Raleigh, N.C.) is in his fourth year, and just keeps getting better. In two games against Richmond – a loss and an OT win – Blue scored a goal and added three assists, including on Daniel Nau’s OT game-winner. Tristan Roost Propels Eels Premier team over the Jr. Blades

The College Coaches Love The Way Roost Plays….And a quick look at this game you can see why.

The Eels Premier team turn the Jr. Blades in side out with a resounding 7-1 win Saturday afternoon at the Fort Myers Skatium. Tristan Roost ignited his Eels team flying in the air to put one pass Blades net minder Wise. The Eels retuned to form with this clear and convincing win over their cross town rivals. The Eels Premier team continue their dominance in Southwest Florida for hockey Supremacy. In fact the Eels took back first place today with this solid performance both offensively, defensively and in net. The Skatium was packed with over 300 fans to lay witness to the best hockey in Florida.

The Eels travel to Hertz Arena to close out the weekend series on Sunday. Game time is 12:15 pm.

Florida Eels Elite Team Blanks Jr Blades 4-0

The Jr Blades Frustrated By Eels Elite Squad Who Completely Thawed Any Attack

The Eels Elite team sparked by the Premier team’s 7-1 domination over the Blades Premier team  this afternoon, decided to put on a show of their own. The Blades gave the Eels the ultimate compliment when the dropped several Premier players to play against them in Saturday nights Elite game. The Eels came out on fire and responded by smothering the Blades with an aggressive fore-check, a denying back check, and a lethal offensive attack that delivered an impressive  4-0 shutout win. The Eels goaltending was spectacular turning away shot after shot after shot.

We knew the boys were focused all week. Very determined indeed. But when they hit the ice the Eels tilted the surface and delivered a significant blow to the Blades mission to garner a win over the Eels team. The Elite team did not care who they dropped and nor how many players were brought in.

Like the Premier team, the Eels Elite team  continues to dominate supremacy in Southwest Florida Hockey. The Eels Elite team simply had it tonight with razor sharp passing, relentless fore-checking and equally aggressive back checking. Their hunger and drive was evident the entire game and was reflected on the scoreboard. Goaltending was remarkable.

The two squads face-off again early Sunday morning at 9:00 am at Hertz Arena. The Eels are looking to close out the weekend with a sweep before heading home for Thanksgiving.

Eels Premier Power Play Does Not Mean A “Man Advantage” But Rather it is A “Team Advantage”

For the Eels Premier team Power Play means just that An Overwhelming Powering Against All Opponents.

The Florida Eels Premier Team put on a clinic Saturday afternoon. The guys have been on a tear with 3 straight wins vs Atlanta and a huge win over Tampa 8-2 last weekend. They did split vs Tampa last Sunday. But then got back to form tonight with an over powering performance against the Jr. Blades 7-1. The way to appreciate the Eels play is to think this weekend in a 3 game series thus far, Atlanta   defeated the Tampa Juniors in their 1st 2 games of the weekend. Now keep in mind that the Eels cruised through Atlanta 8-0, 8-4 and 5-1. Then pounded Tampa 8-2. Then took the house off the Jr Blades foundation tonight 7-1.

The Eels are indeed a very exciting team to watch. But the fruits of these performance just does not happen by chance. Both Eels teams train 3-4 hours per day. They break down every aspect of their games on videos and direct frame by frame how they can and will improve their games. They model their practices and fitness training to that of NCAA Div. 1 programs. It is a total commitment. For the Eels it isn’t enough to say they have the will to win. After all everyone wants to win. With the Eels all of our players have to buy in. That is to have the 100% unwavering commitment to train harder than others. To have the insatiable appetite to score and equally be committed to play defense as a team. This has to be reflected in every shift of every period and every second of every practice.

Here was the scoring tonight by the Premier team. It was impressive:

Eels Elite Looking For Spark From A Broad Base of Players

The Florida Eels Elite team is looking for a huge Break Out weekend by some players.  In order for the team to reach its optimum potential we need  all of our guys  to perform. Not just a select few; we need them to set up and showcase their talents and this is the perfect weekend to start. It is the weekend before Thanksgiving and a pivotable juncture in the season. When we come back from the Thanksgiving break, we hit the games hard with 2 vs the Tampa Juniors home and away, 3 away games in Atlanta and the 4 game USPHL Showcase just before the Christmas break. That is 7 games set in December. Very exciting as there will be a plethora of college scouts at the Showcase and on Hockey TV  for the other 5 games for the pre showcase games garnering a snapshot and preview of the USPHL Christmas Showcase.

Challenges have been issued: Today we are looking for strong efforts from  20 year old veteran forward Pablo Palos from Texas. Pablo was hot earlier in the season who scored 4 goals and notched one assists. At 6’2 210 lbs. he offers size and power and has so much upside. We are looking for him to rekindle his offensive game and help pilot his team to a series of wins against the Blades and in December.  He has the scoring ability. We know that. It is time to put the puck in the net. Another key veteran that we expect to jump start his game is Nick Vasquez. He is a 3-year veteran of juniors and plays with a lot of physicality and spirit. He is very aggressive, and we are looking for him to channel those energies to score. We know he has the will to win. He needs to help put the team on the scoreboard.

In keeping with size we have 6’3” 200 lbs. rookie forward  Nathan Hedrick who has scored 2 goals and notched 1 helper. Nate can be a very towering forward and has very good skill set. We are looking for his fluent game to come on strong against the cross-town rivals. Once he finds his game, he will be a force to reckon with. The Eels are very high on him. This kid has a great attitude. A few goals from him will unleash the confidence he needs to become a power forward who can score. Next we are looking for 2nd year veteran Ciro Calvanese to continue with his scoring. He scored his first Eels goal in Atlanta and it was no surprise to GM Scarpaci or any of the coaching staff. He has incredible speed and acceleration. Last season he had more break always.  He simply needs to finish. Now that the ice has cracked so to speak, we feel this will be a regular occurrence. He is one of the most dedicated players on the team and we are all cheering for his success. We know he will do anything to help his team win. He now as added another element to his game. His  forechecking and physical  play. .That should help trigger offense.

Continuing with our Veterans is Peter Haas who came over from the Premier team. Haas no doubt will rise to the upper echelon on this team. He has a high hockey IQ very good skill set and a strong leader. He is a 3-year veteran of juniors and we are counting on him to get the team going. He is very strong in all 3 zones. I predict he will score this weekend.

On the rookie side  are  Trevor Bass and William Heikkila This is their  time to step up and show the coaches what they have. It is wide open. It does not matter if you are a rookie or 3-year veteran. We need players to expend every ounce of determination, spend all their  energies on every shift, forecheck with abandonment, relentlessly back check and drive to the net with thirst and hunger…. That is what we need from them.  They need to take their game to the next level. That extra shot. Make that clear pass. That effective hit. Take that  block shot. We are looking for some of the above forwards to bring secondary scoring that the team needs. Who will be that guy? Well it is as much an opportunity for any    of the guys listed above

On the Defense side, we have a number of guys who we need a great series  from:  2nd year veteran Steve Huitt , 3rd year veteran Payton Donica , Rookie Neil Campbell , 2nd year veteran JJ Peters and swing forward/defensemen and 2nd year veteran Zach Simbro. Simply stated we need more. Much more and it is their time that is why they are here to become impact players and get the experience to advance to the Next Level be it Premier and or college.

From our goalies, simple message. Stop the puck. Weather any storm. Be mentally tough.

We do believe the message was delivered this week at practice. No more waiting. No more thinking someone else is going to do it. No, it is up to you to step up here. This is a critical weekend to demonstrate your wares, talents energies fortitude and determination. I as General Manager is expecting to see a unit as a team and individuals to show me their unwavering commitment to win!!!
