Our players are from across the USA Canada and Europe.

Earlier this month the Eels had hosted 3 teams at the NCDC Showcase in Foxboro The Eels were on of 45 teams present for this event. We were the only team present at the NCDC Pre Draft from the Florida Division and the Southeast Division

General Manager Frank Scarpaci is at the Madison Meltdown in Madison Wisconsin Scouting and Recruiting High End Players

The Eels return to Wisconsin as part of its recruiting footprint scouting and recruiting some of the USA top junior prospects. The Eels had traditionally been a fixture at the Mr. Mr. Showcase in Madison for over a decade but a few years ago the showcase director took on a college coaching job and this areas went dormant. But the Eels are back strong as GM Scarpaci is currently attending the Madison Meltdown where there will be approximately 20 teams and around 350+ prospects.

The Prospects come from across the USA so it is even more attractive than a regional base event. The Eels have made some pretty signifiant signings to date so we are looking to add to our program.

Premier Coach Frank Scarpaci and Elite Coach Alex Sanchez head to the NCDC Combine in Chicago to scout well over 230 players strong.

“We leave no stone unturned in our quest for top players……”

Premier Coach Frank Scarpaci and Elite Coach Alex Sanchez head to the NCDC Combine in Chicago to scout well over 230 players strong. The coaches j got home less than a month ago form the NCDC Combine in Detroit where we felt the competition was much stronger than the past 2 seasons.

The coaches just got home this past Sunday where the Eels hosted 3 teams made up of 60 players at the NCDC Pre Draft. The event had over 45 teams approx. 900 players

No doubt the Eels are combing the USA with its scouting staff in Canada and Europe combing the Globe for the best talent available. In Boston the Eels brought quite a few staff members including 34 alumni college players and pro alumni. The Eels provided 3 practices 3 scrimmages and discussion groups for its prospects

We will be announcing our signings soon.

Florida Eels Prospects Teams Did Very Well at The USPHL NCDC Pre Draft

Florida Eels Prospects Teams Did Very Well at The USPHL NCDC Pre Draft

The Eels went to Foxboro Mass with 56 prospects and 4 veteran Eels not knowing what to expect and quite frankly did extremely well. The Eels Green team won two of its 3 games. They picked up their first win as they shutout the Columbus Mavericks 3-0 and then defeated the Pal Islanders in what was one of the best games in the Showcase against the Pal Islanders who had 50% Premier players on its squad.

The White team came up with a win over the Rockets and a tie over the weekend. The Black team earned a solid tie over the Rockets.

The Eels were impressed with their prospects. Quite a few new guys showed us quite a bit of skill and grit. Almost all asked to return with us at either the Pro Am Pre Draft in June or the Pro Am Chowder Cup in July.

The prospects were divided into 3 teams for the weekend. Each team had a practice and a scrimmage game prior to the showcase. This gave them an opportunity to be comfortable and before the games. Moreover, the Eels coaches and trainers had a chance to learn a little bit about each player. The Eels had their regular coaches and were joined by several college coaches and college alumni and pro alumni. It was a great experience for the players who got a feel for Junior hockey practices, their coaches and some very competitive games. There were a plethora of scouts from colleges the NCDC and other members of the USPHL
Great job all around!.

The Florida Eels are proud to announce its 270 college commitment: PJ Haas has committed to Robert Morris University Pa ACHA Division 1

PJ Haas joined the Eels last season as last year guy in quest for an opportunity to play big minutes, develop as a top forward and advance to college. He hit all those benchmarks. At 6’0” 170lbs he made his presence felt – on and off the ice. The Virginia Beach native,  earned the respect of his fellow players and coaches as he was selected as Assistant  Captain. He was a natural leader on the Eels Elite team.  He made his veteran status known. He helped propel his team to being one of the top teams in the entire Elite conference in the USPHL. Moreover, he used his size and strength on the ice. He was very aggressive on the fore-check. Constantly creating loose puck turn overs. He led by example. Driving hard to the net earning 6 goals and 13 assists in season. He worked his body along the boards and made his size felt to opposing players. He was as strong defensively as offensively with a relentless back checking and willingness to black shots. He bought into the Eels DNA do whatever is necessary to win.

PJ had many colleges following him and had a dozen offers for next season. It wasn’t a hard decision for him, however. He knew what he wanted, and Robert Morris University was it. RMU offered both the academic programs he wanted, coupled with an outstanding ACHA Div. I hockey program and excellent coaching. He is extremely excited to have made this decision.

We are very excited for PJ. He is a first class individual with impeccable character. He comes from a well know hockey family in the Southeast who has supported his dreams and goals. We are thrilled to have helped him realize his dreams into reality. Best of luck buddy in your college career at RMU

Florida Eels Hosting Three Teams of Prospects at the NCDC Pre Draft Showcase

The Florida Eels host 3 teams at the NCDC Pre Draft Showcase. Players from across the USA Canada and the USA joined the Eels coaches and staff this weekend competing  in a series of games against teams from across the USPHL spectrum. The Eels diid things right offering all of the 60 players a set of practices for each team and 3 separate scrimmages for the 3 teams before the showcase games commenced.

The Eels brought in college coaches and Eels alumni who went off to college and Eels alumni who play Pro Hockey to assist with the practices, scrimmages and games. It is a phenomenal  way for the players to get first hand knowledge of the Junior and College process and experiences. We also had the opportunity to have dozens of individual ,meetings with players and parents. First class effort by the Eels.

Each of the Eels teams will play a minimum of 3 games at the Showcase.

The Eels scouting staff were also in full swing at the venue as they met with strong prospects apart from the 3 teams.

Next weekend the Eels coaches head back on the road to Chicago at the USPHL Combine and the Eels GM Frank Scarpaci heads to Wisconsin. The Eels coaches will then head to Denver CO for the CCM Showcase and back to Boston for the June Pro AM Pre Draft and head to Las Vegas for the Global Showcase. The Eels will be back in Boston for the Chowder Cup Series in July

The Eels Green Team Shut Out the Columbus Mavericks 3-0 in Game 2 of the NCDC Pre Draft Showcase

The Eels Green team came out on fire tonight as they lit the lamp 3 times to defeat the Columbus Mavericks 3-0 to pick up their first win at the NCDC Pre Draft Showcase. We got a lot of looks at our guys in the practices, scrimmage games and showcase games and this one gave us an even better snap shot of some of the players in a seriously competitive environment. There is some good talent here and we like what we have seen thus far. We have 3 more games Sunday and our players will be once again be out to the test.

The Florida Eels Announce its 269th College Advancement with the commitment of JJ Peters to the University of West Virginia

JJ Peters, a 2003, joined from Huston Texas, joined the Eels two seasons ago. He was first seen at the CCM Showcase in Denver CO. He has skated for the Eels Elite team as a defenseman. He has been a solid defenseman and was a large part of the Eels Divisional Championship team in 2019-20 and their strong 2nd place finish this year 2020-21. He brings unwavering commitment to his team. He possesses tremendous work ethic. Works very hard on and off the ice. He has solid defensive skill set. Smart in the D Zone. Good first passes out of the zone. Has good puck movement and gets the puck on the opposing goalie on the offensive blueline. He has strong gap control.

JJ has 2 more years of junior eligibility. He came to the Eels with two purposes in mine: Player Development and Advance to College. He feels he has reached his benchmark, and very excited to have received his commitment for the 2021 season to play for the University of West Virginia. He was selective in his college quest as his designated major would be Engineering. No doubt the University of West Virginia is one of the top Engineering schools. After visiting the campus, the academic advisors, touring the facilities and the town, and visiting with the coaches and the players, JJ was hooked. He knew it was right and the time was now. Indeed, that is what it is all about – finding the right college and hockey program. We are thrilled to have helped Peters realize his dream of attending a top academic college and having the opportunity to play College Hockey.

JJ’s family were also proud sponsors with the Eels program as they hosted several Eels Junior players over the two season. We thank them profusely

We wish JJ the best of luck in his future. We were thrilled with the 2 years of his tenure with the Eels family.
