The Eels are thrilled to announce that Justin Colton will be joining our junior program for the 2021-22 season. Justin 5’10 159 lbs. A 2003 LW from Parkland Florida He played last season for the Florida Alliance Tier I AAA midget team and has played high school for Stoneman Douglas High and previous played for the Florida Jr Panthers and the Palm Beach Hawks AAA. In 74 games Colton has accumulated 34 goals and garnered 43 assists for 77 points. Now that is impressive. GM Scarpaci comments, but when you see the way he plays , those numbers are not surprising.

Justin played for the Eels at the USPHL Spring NCDC Pre Draft  in May and impressed all the coaches present. We noticed he had excellent skill set which included a smooth skating style with timely acceleration. He shared the Eels coaches desire to drive to the net. We liked his appetite to score and create offensive opportunities. He was quick to get to loose pucks and equally aggressive to create turnovers on the other team. Moreover, despite it being a showcase, he was eager to back check. Colton had “Eels” written all over his game. We loved his fortitude and determination. No doubt in our mind he plays with a high compete level. In fact, he will be joining us in July at the Pro-Am Pre Draft back up in Foxboro MA.

The Eels coaches got to spend a considerable amount of time over that weekend with Justin and we loved his attitude and character. He has heart and lays everything out in a game. We are thrilled that he will be joining us in the Fall. We welcome Justin to our family

The Eels are excited to announce that  Aaron Davidson will be joining our junior program for the 2021-22 season. Davidson at 6’8” 207lbs brings enormous size to the program. He is an extremely physical player and uses his body and size to wear down his opponents. No doubt his presence is felt all over the ice. But he also brings a high level of skill. He is a strong skater who leads the charge on the attack. Good puck movement. And is aggressive on the forecheck. He is relentless along the boards and wins loose puck battles and first on puck retrieval. His drive to the net is intimidating. He has that unusual appetite to score. A perineal power forward in all sense of the game. He covers the front of the net so well and makes it nearly impossible for opposing goalies to gather their vision.  This kid lays everything out when he plays. We can see he has the work ethic typical amongst our Eels players!!!

In the D Zone he is equally effective.  With his size and attitude you won’t beat him. He knows his responsibility is Defense first, and he is very effective in carrying out this philosophy. There is no question Davidson comes with a high compete level. He is a very dedicated young man who puts in quite a bit of extra time to improve his game. He is very determined to get to the Next Level as a player and help his team win a National Championship.  We know when he adapts to  the Eels training his upside is limitless.

It is with this due diligence that separates him from so many others. Yes he calls great play by play, yes he knows the game but it is the details that takes his Broadcast to the Next Level. Nick also takes the extra effort during the week to interview players and coaches. He delivers the players outside the game. Gets us to know a little about each guy, where he is from, what makes him tick and what we should look for in him.

The Eels are thrilled and honored to advance players to the Next level and that is to college and maybe the pros. But we are especially honored to also play a small part in Nick’s advancement to the Next Level. He will undoubtedly become a professional broadcaster in the near future. EELS SIGNING ALERT: The Florida Eels are pleased to announce the signing of Joe McCormick out of Tipp City, Ohio. McCormick is a two year veteran to junior hockey competing in both the NA3HL as well as the USPHL-Premier. Last season, he had an impressive offensive explosion grabbing 27 points in 37 games for the Yellowstone Quake.  McCormick is excellent defensively, has a quick first couple steps, and a real good wrist shot that gets off in a hurry. The coaching staff is excited to bring him in adding skill, reliability as well as experience. “Bringing in Maroszek was so key to our teams success last season. He was able to play any of the three forward positions, contributed offensively but was so reliable defensively.  We see a lot of the same qualities in Joe,” said Coach Scarpaci.

The Florida Eels are Very Excited to Announce Cade Swygert’s Commitment to ACHA Div. I Roosevelt University.

Cade played 167 junior games in the USPHL, and all were with the Florida Eels. He epitomes player development. He played his first two seasons with the Eels Elite team. In his rookie season he scored 3 goals and notched 9 assists. It was a truly a development year for him. He broke out in his sophomore campaign in the Elite Division where he was bestowed team Captain and took ownership of the team and its character. In that year he led his team to Nationals. He scored 10 goals and notched 31 assists. He continued to work hard over the summer and attended 4 of the post seasons showcases and his development truly blossomed. He made the quantum jump to the Premier team. There he made his adjustments to ripen into a solid stay home defenseman. He assisted his team in again winning the USPHL Florida Division and advanced to the USPHL Nationals. Last season he was selected unanimously as team Captain and lead his team to another Divisional title and to Nationals where his team made it to Finals and was one goal away from taking it all. He truly ripened into one of the league’s top defensemen scoring 5 goals and notching 23 assists for 28 points in the Premier Division. That is not an easy task!

Cade will be a true asset for Roosevelt University’s program. He has very strong skill set. Solid skater. Very good puck movement skill. Very tough to play against in the Defensive zone. Very good gap control. And a consummate treat to the offensive blue line. He has been recognized by his peers having been repeatedly named Assistant Captain and Captain on each of his season with the Eels. He is an outstanding leader as evidenced by his team’s systematic winning of the Florida Divisional titles and their repeated advancement to Nationals. He had been selected numerous occasions to Player of the Week, Player of the Month, and year-end All-Star team. He was selected this past season to the Hub City League All Star Team as well.

Despite his extremely energetic and enthusiastic character on the bench and on the ice, he is a quite humble young man from Summerville SC with impeccable character. He isone of our most loyal and dedicated players who ever sported an Eels jersey. He has unmatched work ethic, and this will boast well in college.  Cade had a plethora of offers from colleges. He felt that Roosevelt and playing for Coach Billy Karr was the perfect fit for him with their academic program and his hockey team. We wish Cade the very best.
