Florida Eels Premier Team Defeat the Palm Beach Typhoon 8-2

Gage Dill With a Hat Trick Leads Eels to Huge Win Over the Typhoon 8-2

The Florida Eels Premier team had a huge win over the Palm Beach Typhoon in Sunday’s 8-2 match. This was the Eels Premier team’s 4th straight win and their 5th in their last 6 games. All cylinders have been firing showing signs that they are back in play. The Eels went through what is known as a midwinter slump in hockey but the boys are now back in sync.

No doubt the entire team has found their grove and look like the team that was on the ice in the beginning of the season. They are back in first place in the tough and extremely competitive Florida Division and went from being ranked 14th over all in the USPHL Premier Conference to number 7 and 6th in the USPHL by My Hockey Rankings.

In yesterday’s game we saw Colin Patterson (28th) and Taurin Haddon Harris ( 28th) continued to be on fire both scoring their 28th of the season and on mark for 30 in the season. We also saw contributions from Hunter Howe his 1st of the year which was huge for him as he normally is a defensive d D Man. Another bog goal came from Maverick Crupi his 6th of the year.

But the key to yesterday’s game was the explosion by Gage Dill for 3 big ones. His 1st Hat Trick since his return to the Eels. We all know what Dill is capable of. He is a natural goal scorer. This was huge for the team and personally for Dill. He is a passionate and determined player. He always plays with a high compete level. You can see he was a bit frustrated when he initially returned from the NCDC tenure. But in the last few games we saw him finding his game and putting the puck in the back of the net. But yesterday was a completely different story. It all came together for his You could see he had his confidence back and he was not just hot he was on fire. Confidence resonated all over his face and his body.

We had other major contributions fro, a plethora of other players as well. Some through assist and others not reflected on the score board This was a complete team effort. A complete listing of the scoring is set out below.

The Key To the Elite Team’s Success is An Integration of Veterans and Rookies

Thisi is a very fast team with high skill set

The Eels Elite team had traditionally been on the older side. Often times as many as 50% of the team aging out to college. This year the Eels builds this Elite team  with a mixture in mind. Two veteran 01 players 10 02’s and the remained of the 28 man roster 03-05’s The concept was high end skill set speed and emphasis on youth. The recipe here proved positive. Our team is on a 15 game winning streak and in sole possession of 1st place in the Florida Division and 2nd over all in the USPHL Elite Conference.

The veteran 01 and 02  players have helped enormously the rookies who came in. To give them advise lend wisdom and impart discipline. The younger guys offer quickness and lightning speed. A very high tempo game is always put forth by the Eels Elite players.  The attitude you are not playing for yourself but the guys in the room. The boys are focused not self impressed. Hard work and determination the attitude. All efforts focused on Playoffs. Not looking beyond that. Nothing is being taken for granted.

Florida Eels Elite Continue Strong with their Win 8-4 Today over the Palm Beach Typhoon – they are now 15 straight wins

The Florida Eels Elite team are Red Hot with another Huge Win 8-4 over the Palm Beach Typhoon This win marks their 15th straight win without a loss. This streak dates back to December. The Eels Elite are a balance team with scoring coming from so many different players throughout this tenure. Today’s victim was the Palm Beach Typhoon. The boys came out flying and never looked back. Palm Beach did manage to score 4 on the Eels and this was unusual as the Eels have a stingy  2.00 GAA. But the Eels big guns scored 8 to insure the win.

Come Join us For The Last Homestand of the Season Against the Palm Beach Typhoon

Folks be sure to join us Sunday at the Skatium or on HockeyTV. It will be the final home games against the Typhoon  Elite at 10:30 am and Premier at 1 pm.  Both Eels teams are undefeated against the Typhoon squads this season. They have been solid games but the Typhoon  have not been able to overcome the depth of the Eels teams. Give Palm Beach credit , however, they are an expansion team. They always came to play and gave us  solid games. They never quit. They have solid hard working players with a very good coaching staff. They have proven to be dedicated and did things right. Game day ops is better than many veteran programs It is good to compete against first class operators. We know what their sister program is like in New Hampshire – the Northern Cyclones and these guys will be just as strong.

The Eels are not taking tomorrow’s games for granted. No way The Typhoon are fighting for that last playoff spot against the Blades and Madhatters. There is no more dangerous than a team who is desperate and has everything to lose if they are not successful. They have some very talented players who can put the puck in the net  on each of their teams – these guys  can be game changers

The Eels will not change their game plan. This are important games for the Eels as well. They are posturing for seeding and will plan accordingly. Our goal was never to focus on first place. It was all about playing our best – day in and day out. If we capture the number one spot in our Division great. What is far more critical for us is to be ready for playoffs and win. Right down the line. To make sure all of our guys are ready.  Advancing  to Nationals has been and is our number one mission. We have worked extremely hard all year and will not let up now.

We have a scheduled game down in Palm Beach and we have a make up a game  originally scheduled for last Thursday against Palm Beach; that game had to be postponed  due to a fire in their building. We are not sure of the exact time date or venue yet We will keep you all posted.

The Florida Eels are thrilled to announce our first College Commitment for the this season: Taurin Haddon-Harris has committed to NCAA Division III Curry College.

The Florida Eels are thrilled to announce our first College Commitment for the this season:   Taurin Haddon-Harris has committed to NCAA Division III Curry College. Taurin is captain of the Eels Premier team. Coach Frankie Scarpaci comments, “Taurin is one of the toughest competitors who ever wore an Eels jersey. You know when he is on the ice. He dominates every shift. No doubt the best player on either team when he is out there. He does it all…scores, sets players up, captures assists, best at puck retrieval, relentless on the fore-check and equally strong on the back check…. Taurin just broke the record for the “Florida Eels All Time Leader in Points for a Single Season”.

His accomplishments have been recognized and honored by the USPHL. Taurin has repeatedly been chosen as “Player of the Week” and selected by the league as “Player of the Month” several times this season. He was selected as “Mid-Season All Star” by the league.  Additionally, Taurin is a phenomenal leader on and off the ice” GM Scarpaci emphatically refers to Taurin as the MVP in this league. Bar none. He plays an extremely high tempo game…unwavering commitment to his team and has an unequaled will to win”

Taurin has been one of the top recruited players by NCAA college coaches. GM Scarpaci has received a plethora of calls on him. After every game and showcase he has been the topic of college coaches’ inquiry. Despite these accolades, Taurin is a very humble player. He always credits his teammates and coaches for the wins and his and his team’s success.

Taurin is very excited about becoming a Curry College Colonel. He has done his due diligence and loves what Curry College offers both academically and with its hockey program. Curry College has a rich New England tradition and a storied legacy. Taurin is also very excited and enthusiastic about playing for coach Peter Roundy. Coach Roundy is building a solid program at Curry with a bright future ahead.

Taurin knows his job is not done here with the Eels. He echoes….”we are a team on a mission. We know what got away from us last year as it slipped through our fingers. That won’t be the case this year. As Captain Taurin intends to lead his team all the way. He plans to leave and bestow a major mark on the Eels. He loves playing here and is a true champion. The Florida Eels  wish Taurin the very best. This is another milestone for the Florida Eels Its 290th College commitment to its program.
