The Eels opened training camp with intense 4-5 hours of  daily training  including on ice, off ice  training  Gym, video and seminars

Week one was concluded with 4 scrimmage games. Each player played in a minimum of two of those games.

This was a a great first week for the boys. Today the players entered Week Two. This week we will provide dinner for all the boys and in smaller groups breakfast.

After 125+ games 31 teams and 40 plus practices the Eels return back to Fort Myers for preparation of next season teams.  The coaches and staff will take a few days off for a well deserved rest and then get right back into it.

It has been a challenging few weeks but well worth the effort. We got to meet over 500 players who effectively have been trying out and planting seeds for years to come.

Our guys have been scouted and recruited by so many college and prep school guys and it was great for their exposure

Florida Eels are excited to announce the signing of veteran Defensemen William Maltais

 

The Eels add a major defensemen William Maltais to its lineup. At 6’1” 170 lbs. the  Maltais  adds size strength and speed to the Eels. He is a young man with excellent skill set. Very good skater with outstanding puck control and excellent hockey IQ. He brings experience on the back end and on the blueline. He has the ability to be offensive and a threat on the blueline. He is equally effective in the D-Zone. Relentless in defending his house.  He plays with a high compete level that outworks forwards in the D-Zone. He is without question a top defenseman in the league. He has had outstanding development from his AAA days in Quebec. We welcome him to the Eels.

The Florida Eels are thrilled to announce the signing of 2003 veteran defensemen

Dayvan Bull   from Little Pine, SK, CAN

 

Dayvan at 5’10” 160 lbs. brings explosive speed on skates and equally fast  in his decision making on the blueline and in the defensive zone. . He is strong two-way defensemen.  Owning the defensive zone and controlling the blueline offensively. He has excellent skill set. He plays with unwavering commitment and determination. He plays with high compete level and passion. He is a true veteran, with junior, Midget AAA and  Prep School experience. Bull will be a significant asset to the Eels program. Dayvan is a competitor. He comes to the Eels knowing how committed the Eels are to Player Development and College Advancement.  This is exactly what Bull was looking for in a program. We welcome Dayvan to our program.

Let the Chowder Cup Games Begin

Thursday we have 4 teams kicking off the Mini Chowder Cup Showcase. Approximately 80 players competeing as Eels this weekend

We have 4 practices and each team has a scrimmage game in preparation for the actual showcase games. On Friday the official showcase begins. In the Showcase each team has a minimum of a 4 game guarantee. So exciting for our 2009 and 2008 players who come from across the USA and Canada

We have invited coaches from Prep Schools, Junior teams and Colleges to get a look at our players This is a great opportunity for young guns to play with and against the top players from the USA Canada and Europe. It is a phenomenal exposure opportunity for them to come under the radar of the scouts.

Next week the Eels will be back with 7 teams in teh Sr Chowder Cup and teh following weekend we return with 11 teams in the 2007 and 2006 Junior Chowder Cup. A total of 26 teams in teh Pro Am Series this Spring and Sumer and another 4 in the USPHL Spring Showcase 30 teams!!! 600 players showcased to the scouts

The Eels coaches are thrilled about adding 2003 veteran defensemen Brayden Goddard to its Blueline. He comes with solid seasoning both at the Junior level and in AAA hockey. He is from Vancouver WA and has strong skill set. He is known to be a smart player. A high hockey IQ He makes the right plays in the D Zone. A physical player and uses his 6’0” 185 lbs. frame to his advantage. He makes smart first passes out; quick on the transition, very good puck movement and a very smooth skater. He can be explosive on the line rush. He is very effective on the offensive blueline. He plays with a lot of passion and has the commitment to win. We welcome him to the Eels.
