Congrtas to Two Florida Eels Elite Players Selected Players of the Week

Forward Cole Taylor and Goaltender: Loic St. Denis-Lacombe

Forward: Wesley Wilding, Richmond Generals

Three games down, three wins in the standings. The defending National Champions have already clinched their playoff berth to begin a whole new quest for hardware, and a lot of that will have to do with the production of players like Wilding (‘04/London, Ont.), who put up 4-3-7 in two wins over Charlotte and an additional W against Potomac.

Defense: Wesley Sweitzer, Charlotte Rush

Sweitzer and the Rush fought valiantly against a very determined Richmond team, including putting up two assists, along with a team-leading 14 shots on goal over the weekend as well as four blocked shots. Sweitzer has registered points in nine of their last 10 games, and has collected 28 points in 31 games.

Goaltender: Aidan Mirra, Richmond Generals

Mirra (‘03/Malvern, Pa.) was on fire with 43 saves on 44 shots in one of the Generals’ two victories against the Rush, good for a .977 save percentage. He has improved to 5-4-0-1, and he hasn’t given up more than two goals in his last four games. He also has a .924 save percentage and 2.10 goals against average.

Florida Division

Forward: Cole Taylor, Florida Eels

Taylor (‘05/Plainfield, Ill.) put together a great run of four goals and one assist in their first three February contests. He had his four games spread out over three games for a nice mini-streak. He has helped the Eels to a winning streak of 6-0, while posting five of his eight points between Feb. 1-7.

Defense: Frederick Bonebrake, Tampa Bay Juniors

Bonebrake (‘05/Lithia, Fla.) has been one of the top defensive players from the Florida Division, putting up 39 blocked shots this season. Recently, in the team’s first couple of February games – both wins against Palm Beach – he put up a goal and two assists. Overall, he has 17 points in 31 games.

Goaltender: Loic St. Denis-Lacombe, Florida Eels

St. Denis-Lacombe (‘04/Ruoyn-Noranda, Que.) put up 23 saves on 24 shots, and he improved to 4-4-1-1 overall on the season with the win. The Eels’ goaltending corps have helped them win 27 of 39 games this year.

Congrats to Three Florida Eels Elite Players Selected Players f the Month

Lorenzo Marchetta, Jachym Cermak and Jake Mork

Florida Division

Lorenzo Marchetta, Florida Eels

The top point-producer of the whole South Region (and second in the league), Marchetta ran through teams left and right, north and south. He posted nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points in a 6-2-2-1 month for the Eels. The Fort Myers squad leads the division by 11 points. Overall, Marchetta has 60 points in 36 games.

Colby Sims, Atlanta MadHatters

Sims (‘04/Rocky Mountain House, Alb.) jumped right out on 2023 with a 10-point run at the USPHL Tampa Showcase, and just kept on rolling to end up with 9-8-17 by the end of the month. Atlanta qualified for the Elite playoffs during the month, and Sims is third on the team with 40 points.

Lucas Nichols, Palm Beach Typhoon

Nichols was on a roll with a 14-point month (6-8-14) through January, putting up points in all but one of the playoff-bound Typhoon’s games. He ended January on an eight-game, 12-point scoring streak as well – and extended that to nine games with his first February action. Overall, Nichols has 43 points in 37 games to rank second on the Typhoon.

Defense

Jachym Cermak, Florida Eels

Always a two-way threat, Cermak had his best month of the season, with his 16 points more than his November and December output combined. He scored the bulk – 12 points – in his final five games of the month. Along with a +4, he has posted 40 points to stand in a tie for the league lead with Carolinas Colby Markham.

Carter Trussler, Tampa Bay Juniors

Trussler (‘06/Land O’Lakes, Fla.) helped the Juniors to remain at second in the Florida Division with a 4-3-0-1 record for the month. Putting up a +6 rating, he also had six assists in eight games. That point total helped him place in a tie for second on the Juniors in the month of December. Trussler leads the Tampa defense with 21 points in 37 games.

Goaltender

Jake Mork, Florida Eels

Mork emerged as the only completely undefeated goaltender on the Florida Division’s top team, going 4-0 in the month of January. He stopped 98 of 107 shots over the course of January for a .916 save percentage. Mork remains on a six-game winning streak since rejoining the Eels in December.

Today Eels vs Jr Blades Premier :Blades Looking to Capture 2 points To Advance to Playoff Spot

Today’s game comes down to the Blades need a win in order to advance and gain a playoff spot. They are in 5th place with 38 points. The Typhoon are in 4th with 39 points. The Blades have played one less game than Palm Beach. Today we should see a very aggressive offensive push by the Jr Blades. The Eels have owned the series between the two. The Eels have seized a playoff spot and 1st place. But one thing for sure the Eels never take a day off and today’s contest will be no different.

The game-takes place at 1:30 pm at Hertz the last of our away series against the Jr Blades. Come join us live or on Hockey TV

Eels Defeat Jr Blades at Hertz 4-2 and need just 1 point to lock down First Place

Florida Eels vs Blades  A game that had no consequence for the Jr Blades  The Eels locked up the playoffs a while ago. The Eels are  looking to secure 1st. The Eels faced a Jr Blades looking to hit more than score. The Eels coming back from Columbia  A – 3 game series  and manyplayers   very sick but they  came out as true athletes they are,

This was an especailly hard loss for the Blades as it concludes the home series against their cross town rivals the FLORIDA EELS

The games against these two clubs are alwasy great regardless of teh consequences in the standings.

The Eels did what they had to putting 50+ shots on the Blades goalie and despite being sick they bring home the win 4-2. The Eels are now 1 point to secure FIRST PLACE

The Eels Elite Team Will Complete their Away Series against the Jr Blades

This Wed the Eels will complete their final away series against the Jr Blades The Blades are in 6th place in the Florida Division. Last place with only 16 points. The Infantry is in 5th place with 18 points and trust me the Blades are looking to rid themselves of that designation.

Right now the series is split against the Blades 2-2 so you can also count on this” The Blades are looking to best the series against their cross town rivals.

The Eels also are looking to gain a winning record against the Jr Blades. They are also looking to clinch 1st place in teh Elite Division and it would be nice if this was against the Blades

So we can expect quite a bit of action and an indeed spirited contest between these two teams.

Eels Elite Dismantle the Infantry 10-1 in the opening of a 3 game weekend.

The Infantry may have the name but the Eels defeated them in every inch of the battle field. From the opening buzzer. The Eels scored 6 goals in the1st period unloading its lethal scoring power on their northern rivals from South Carolina. In the last contest the Eels defeated them 12-1 and this was again a show of force.

In this game the coaches and players were not taking any chance or take a win for granted. We have scouted this club and they had some huge wins over teams in the Florida and South Div.

The game was clean by both teams with minimal of penalties. But the EEls depth was overwhelming. The Eels just traveled from Florida and showed no signs of being wary.  They went out and fought for every inch of the ice, every ounce of possession and played a suffocating fore-check and a smothering back check. The game info is below;

Eels Premier team win over the Infantry in OT in Game One of three Series

The Eels Premier team had a good old fashion barn burner yesterday against the Columbia Infantry in game one of their 3 game series. At first it looked like it would be a repeat of the Elite game where their brothers unleashed a 10-1 smashing of the Infantry Elite squad. But after the Eels Premier team went up 3-0 the wheels started to come off.

No doubt there were a myriad of factors such as the flu, injuries and the drive. But we wont accept excuses and neither will our players. They went down 4-3 and 5-3 but the boys kept to their structure  and scored and fought back to reach a tie  6-6 with only minutes remaining in regulation. All tied up 6-6 and the game went into OT. There the Eels regained their composure and their experience and training drove them to charter the course and notch the game winner.

The boys were glad to bring home the win. It was a tough one but they have played quite a bit of hockey lately and not all will be pretty. But a win is a win and we will take it

The two squads face off tonight 1t 7:45 pm

Here is the scoring data

Eels Elite Team Continue its Winning Ways over the Infantry Final 4-1

The Eels once again overtake the Columbia Infantry with its 2nd win of the weekend. Yesterday the Eels won 10-1 and today it was an equally strong game. The Eels could have put in maybe 6-7 more but for the strong performance by the Infantry netminder. In fact the Eels pounded close to 55 shots on net

Key notes  Kaiser scored his 12th and 13th, Taylor notched another goal that is his 3rd of the weekend.  Ghafari scored one putting it out of reach for Columbia,  St-Denis-Lacombe turned away 23 of 24 shots in net for the Eels

The boys showed a little sigh of being tired no doubt with the travel and many guys nuring a cold. But they found a way to put the biscuts in the basket and our goalie turned away shot after shot allowing a stingy one goal against.
