Annually the Don Awrey Award is given to that defensemen who shows exceptional defensive skill at the highest level. It is an honor and a privilege for both Trevor Voyda (3 goals 24 assists 27 pts) and Hunter Howe (1 goal 10 assists 11 points) to be selected for this award. They have showed commitment and determination to their position. They have proven not only in each game but in daily training which is 4-5 hours per day for 35 weeks unwavering dedication to make themselves the best they could be. They are consummate competitors. They both enjoy very high hockey IQs. These two players are selfless and are completely focused on their team. The Eels Premier team is once again at the top of the Florida Division. This season the Eels have finished 1st in the tough Florida Division for the last 4 seasons. Both Voyda and Howe have played a significant role in these accomplishments. These two defensemen helped backbone the Eels team last year to the Nationals where they were inches from winning a National Championship. Voyda a 4 year veteran of the Eels and Howe a 2 year veteran of the Eels. This year they are hungrier and more determined than ever. All eyes are on the big picture. First winning playoffs and taking on the Nationals. Both young men are moving on to college next season and we wish them the very best.
