MICHAEL KOBUS AS HE COMMITS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS

Frank Scarpaci

Congratulations To Michael Kobus as he commits to the University of North Texas ACHA Div. 2 Program for the Fall of 2015

Way to go Mike….says coach Frank. Michael Kobus came to the Eels 2 seasons ago. Over his tenure with the Eels he played on the Eels Elite and Empire teams. This season he earned the honors and distinction as being selected amongst his piers as Assistant Captain on the Eels Empire team. Prior to joining the Eels Mike played for the East Coast Eagles and a year in the WSHL. Mike is a high-energy player who comes to the rink and games with enormous intensity. He has great enormous passion and is no doubt a very dedicated and determined young man. This young man comes from a great supportive family. Very high character and integrity.

He was recruited by a number of NCAA Div. 3 teams in New England and in the mid west. He no doubt had a number of options. We pride ourselves in making sure every player has at least 5 good options by the time they are done playing for the Eels.

Mike is a keen veteran and can bring that experience to many college teams. Mike took his time over the past several months discovering all of the information and is thrilled to make his decision to attend the University of North Texas. UNT has a very competitive ACHA Div. 2 team program. He is indeed excited to join that program and bring his experience and skill to his new home.

Mike is an extremely bright mature young man and he is clearly thinking years beyond his playing days. He realizes that his playing career will end one day and he needs to think beyond the next 4 years. He plans to become a pediatric oncologist and the UNT will help pave that way. They have an excellent pre med program and he has determined it offers a more suitable program to accommodate his future. This kind of thinking clearly illustrates his maturity.

GM Scarpaci comments that it makes him especially proud when I see a young man like Michael arrive at such an intelligent decision. No doubt he and his family are highly educated and know what they want. Becoming a doctor takes a lot of hard work and much study. It is a far more intelligent path to play ACHA when you have a pre med course load and major. I am so proud to have had a small part of this man’s future. In the end we are here to bring these boys to the Next Level and to college. It is emphatically and unequivocally clear that has happened here.

We wish you the best in all of your endeavors and studies
