Congratulations Goes Out to Florida Eels Elite Forward: Jonah Barrager As They Announce their 11th College Commitment for this season. Barrager commits to ACHA Division III Lynn University Men’s Ice Hockey Program.

That is 11 College Commits For This Season

Jonah Barrager commits to Lynn University located in Florida. 6’8” 268 pounds from Wichita, KS. Jonah is a 3-year veteran of Junior hockey. He played for the Eels Elite team this past season.  We scouted Barrager at the CCM Showcase last year in Denver CO. We invited him to our Sr. Chowder Cup Pro Am Showcase team last summer.  He Join the Eels as a vehicle to heighten his training and advance his exposure to the college coaches.

Illustrating our Showcase exposure opportunities during the regular season, the Eels attend 4 college showcases: Boston Chicago Charlotte and Tampa – and that is where Jonah was scouted. Lynn coaches then took the liberties to attend Eels practices in Ft Myers and came up for further scouting at the Eels home games. It was from these opportunities Jonah Barragerwent for several visits to Lynn University to discuss both academic and college hockey opportunities.

Jonah is very excited to have found the college that has his major he wants to study, and this is his primary concern. Competitive Hockey one day comes to and end and it is critical for young men to be mindful to select a college or university that will enhance his long term academic and professional dreams and goals as well as Ice Hockey. This is what makes this choice especially exciting. He came to the Eels to develop under our training. This meant 3+ hours per day. This training took him to the level he needed to reach in order to garner the opportunity to play at Lynn.

GM Scarpaci commented, Jonah comes from a pretty dedicated family who uprooted their family and moved from Wichita Kansas to Ft Myers to give their son the opportunity for him to reach and realize his dreams of attending college and playing college hockey. He has strong character, and this is no doubt a key component in the Lynn University’s decision to award Jonah with a substantial Merit Scholarship for his 4 years of college. Congrats

Jonah is a big man 6’8” 268 pounds says Head Coach Alex Sanchez. He can be a very effective player for Lynn University men’s ice hockey program. He takes up quite a bit of room in front of the net and this creates a significant and burdensome screen for opposing goalies. He has passion for the game, and I am sure Lynn is looking for him to use his size in powering up them next year. I know the teams they play Alabama Birmingham, Georgia Teach, Florida Atlantic, Flagler, and MTSU and Eastern Florida State.

Premier Coach Frankie Scarpaci says Jonah has shown us he has the commitment. He continued to train in the Spring and now during the Summer. He partook last   Summer in the Pro-Am Sr. Chowder Cup Showcase and this season in the USPHL   Showcase May where his team won the Elite team’s championship win at the USPHL Spring Showcase.

We wish Jonah the best in his endeavors. Advancing to college a year early is a major accomplishment. But that is what the Eels do. Congratulations
