Congratulations to these players representing the USPHL Premier’s Southeast and Florida Divisions.
Forward: Viktor Martinek, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes
The ‘99 from Prague, Czech Republic, was massive for the Jr. Hurricanes during their regular season-ending split with the Potomac Patriots. The first game saw him score a goal and an assist, and he came back on Sunday with a goal and three assists, totaling a six-point weekend. .
Martinek joined in January and he has racked up 22 points in his 14 games with the Jr. Hurricanes. He exited the season leading the Jr. Hurricanes in scoring chances per game since he joined with 3.5, and he’s second only to Daniel Nau in puck challenges won per game (10.6).
Defense: Egor Nosov, Florida Eels
While many of the South Region teams had the bye week over the Valentine’s weekend, the Eels stayed busy both that weekend and this past one as well. Over the four games, Nosov (‘99/St. Petersburg, Russia) put together a scoring streak that saw him rack up seven points.
Nosov had a five-point weekend to end the regular season against the Florida Jr. Blades, whom the Eels swept and will face again this weekend in the Florida Division Playoffs. The winner of the series goes to the National Championships at Merrimack College in Massachusetts March 12-16.
Nosov led the Eels in time on ice with 24:41 per game, and he led defensively in takeaways per game (13.6).
Goaltender: Jakub Kostelny, Florida Eels
Kostelny (‘99/Trencin, Slovakia) earned three wins in his final four games of the season to finish the year with an impressive 21-6-0-0 with a .915 save percentage and a 2.85 goals against average.
Kostelny ended the season with a 26-save shutout, and that came on the trail of a 34-save effort on 35 saves one game prior.
